Message from Principal
Magnet Gets Upgraded!
I am so excited to announce that the week after spring break, Magnet classrooms got a huge upgrade! We are now working with brand new presentation boards in all of our classrooms. These presentation boards are connected to an apple tv and the teachers are able to run the classroom from the palms of their hands with their new teacher iPADS and pencils.
We also got in another set of ipads and are now 1:1 in all classes in grades 3-8. This means that every student has a device to themselves in their classroom. (Fourth grade has macbooks in their ELA classes). In grades 1 and 2, students are 1:2, meaning that they have 2 students to each device. Thanks to these upgrades, we are now one step closer to our 1:1 schoolwide goal! I am happy to say that if funding remains in tact, we will be ordering 96 ipads next year to complete our 1:1 initiative! I am so proud of the work that has gone into this goal and of the excitement I see from teachers who are embracing the new technology, igniting their thirst for learning and teaching!
Teachers in grades 6-8 have been piloting online classrooms using Edmodo for students to publish and turn in their work. These students have been using their iPADS the entire year and will be allowed to test on that platform. These means that we will be able to shorten the window of testing, creating less anxiety and disturbance of our regular schedule! More information will be available about testing at our Math Night, this THURSDAY, March 28th. The testing information will be in the cafeteria from 5:30 - 5:45 followed by math games! Please join us for a great time!
Another exciting change for this year is the addition of an open house for NEW students. This program is to showcase our school to prospective students and parents. If you know of anyone that may want to attend, please spread the word. It will be Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 2:00 - 3:30.
Thank you for the wonderful year that we have had so far, and as the 2018-2019 school year draws to an end, please remind your students that Mustangs always FINISH STRONG! I am proud of the work we have done so far, and I am so thankful to be your principal.
Mrs. Stephonie A. French, Ed.S.
